By Prime Insight Desk — Brent crude oil prices slid below $100 a barrel after U.S. President Donald Trump announced major progress in a Trump Iran peace deal, raising hopes for the Strait of Hormuz reopening and a possible end to the US Israel Iran war.

The positive development triggered a relief rally across Asian and global stock markets as inflation concerns eased.

Trump said on Saturday that a peace agreement with Iran “has been largely negotiated” after talks mediated by Pakistan and calls with several Middle Eastern leaders. He highlighted the Strait of Hormuz reopening as a central part of the proposed deal.

“An agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries,” Trump posted on his social media platform.

Mixed Signals from Tehran and Islamabad

Iran’s Fars news agency, close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, rejected parts of Trump’s statement. It insisted that the Strait of Hormuz would remain under full Iranian control, calling the U.S. president’s claim “inconsistent with reality.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan welcomed the progress. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Trump and expressed hope that Pakistan would host the next round of talks “very soon.” Pakistan’s Army Chief, Syed Asim Munir, has played a key role in the mediation efforts.

Key Elements of the Proposed Deal

According to multiple reports, the draft agreement includes:

  • A 60-day ceasefire
  • Strait of Hormuz reopening without tolls
  • Lifting of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports
  • Free sale of Iranian oil on international markets
  • Iran nuclear negotiations 2026 within the next 30 to 60 days
  • Possible release of up to $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets

If finalized, the deal could effectively mark the US Israel Iran war end and bring stability to the region.

Strong Market Reaction

News of the Trump Iran peace deal and potential Strait of Hormuz reopening caused Brent crude to drop more than 5%, falling below $100 a barrel. The decline boosted investor sentiment and led to gains across major stock indices worldwide.

Internal U.S. Criticism

The emerging deal has faced criticism from some Republicans. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described the terms as too similar to the 2015 nuclear agreement. However, the White House has defended the negotiations.

Trump has maintained that he will only accept a deal that fully meets U.S. objectives.
