New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has officially announced the Rajya Sabha Polling Date for this year. Voting for 26 Rajya Sabha Seats will be held on June 18 as part of the Rajya Sabha Elections 2026.
The entire process — from voting to counting — will happen on a single day. The official notification will be issued on June 1, and polling will take place between 9 AM and 4 PM on Wednesday, June 18.
States Are Going to Poll in Rajya Sabha Elections 2026?
The Rajya Sabha Election June 18 will cover 12 states and union territories. Here’s how the 26 Rajya Sabha Seats are distributed:
- 4 seats each in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka
- 3 seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan
- 2 seats in Jharkhand
- 1 seat each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Mizoram
Apart from the regular biennial elections, by-elections will also be held in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu to fill two vacant seats.
Why the Vacancies?
The Maharashtra seat became vacant after Sunetra Pawar resigned, while in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK leader C.V. Shanmugam also stepped down.

- Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge
